Cable Harness Manufacturing Process

1. Engineering and design

The process begins with the customer's diagram. The cross-section, length, terminal type, and routing of each cable are determined. Verification is critical because any error at this stage will affect the production of thousands of units.

2. Automatic cutting and stripping

Fully automatic machines cut the cable with millimeter precision and strip the end insulation without damaging the conductor. This is both much faster and more repeatable than the manual method.

3. Crimping (terminal crimping)

The terminal at the end of the cable is crimped under controlled pressure to create a gas-tight connection. Crimping quality directly determines the lifespan of the bundle; therefore, tensile strength tests and cross-sectional checks are performed. A significant portion of field failures are caused by faulty crimping.

4. Housing and socket assembly

Terminalized cables are inserted into the corresponding connector bodies in the correct pin order. Incorrect pin placement will result in the product not working.

5. Grouping, splicing and preservation

Cables are bundled according to the design; mechanical and thermal protection is provided by applying heat shrink tubing, spiral wrapping, felt, or protective hose.

6. Marking and labeling

Each cable and bundle is labeled precisely to match the project specifications. This provides vital ease of installation and future maintenance.

7. Electrical testing and quality control
